LIFTING BEHAVIOR

"Weightlifters know better"

Lift like a weightlifter!

Weightlifters know better how to do it: lift. When a weightlifter does not perform the lifting action correctly. 'Shoot' it is his back or is he overloading his knees. Place your feet in a light spread position ('pelvic width'), actively make your back hollow, hold the weight close to your body during lifting and look up (stretching, activating the spine). Do not fall all the way through your knees, because you will never get up with a large weight.

Don't fall too far through your knees!

The rest of the Netherlands followed a different method for years and went down en masse. But from research earlier this year by movement scientist Prof. dr. Dr. J. van Dieën shows that the weightlifting method is less stressful for the back than the 'squat method'. Lift in particular in a responsible manner when an object is heavy, difficult to handle or when it is difficult to reach, you must keep it away from your body and when you have to lift it very often in succession! Lifting an object thirty times is different than when you only have to lift it once!

The right lifting technique, 'the weightlifting method'

The weightlifting method Stand your feet at 'pelvic width' (outer edge of feet directly under the pelvic edge) Stretch your back and keep your back slightly 'hollow' (active low back posture) Keep the weight as close as possible to you during the lifting (small load arm is less heavy) Always look up during the lifting moment (this will stretch the spine) Create a little 'pre-tension' prior to the lifting moment The Arbo standard for lifting is 25 kg. That's not for nothing!

1 time is not 100 times! Lifting something heavy once is something different than lifting something heavy 30 or 100 times!

Lifting something heavy once is something different than lifting something heavy 30 or 100 times! When you lift a crate of beer once, it is best to do so in an 'incorrect' way. However, if you have to lift a crate of beer 100 times in a row, it is very important to carry this out correctly.
